Health Care

People's Organisation for Wider Education & Rights (POWER) NGO organizes regular health camps to meet the healthcare needs of diverse community groups, including elderly people, children, pregnant and lactating mothers, and individuals requiring eye and dental care. These camps are conducted in partnership with volunteer doctors, nurses, technicians, government health departments, and other organizations, ensuring that essential healthcare services reach underserved populations. By combining medical care, preventive guidance, and health education, these initiatives aim to improve overall well-being and empower participants to take charge of their health.

For elderly people, health camps focus on age-related health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and vision or hearing impairments. Participants receive thorough medical check-ups, lifestyle guidance, and medication support to maintain health and independence. Awareness sessions on nutrition, exercise, and preventive care equip seniors to manage chronic conditions effectively and reduce the risk of complications, enhancing their quality of life.

Children’s health camps address both medical and developmental needs. Growth and nutritional assessments, vaccination support, and guidance on hygiene and preventive care are provided. Children are screened for common health issues such as anemia, vision and hearing problems, dental issues, and respiratory infections. Special attention is given to educating parents and caregivers on child nutrition, proper hygiene, and early intervention for developmental or health concerns. People's Organisation for Wider Education & Rights (POWER) NGO places particular emphasis on nutrition for toddlers and primary school children. Children at risk of malnutrition are identified early, and their dietary needs are carefully monitored. Nutritious meals and supplements are provided according to age and health requirements, promoting physical and cognitive development, immunity, and overall well-being.

For maternal and antenatal care, camps support pregnant and lactating mothers with regular check-ups, nutritional counseling, and health education on pregnancy care, safe delivery, postnatal care, breastfeeding practices, and immunization. These interventions help reduce maternal and infant health risks and ensure safe and healthy pregnancies. Mothers also receive guidance on childcare, hygiene, and nutrition, benefiting both mother and child in the long term.

Eye camps screen participants for vision problems, provide corrective glasses, and refer individuals for advanced treatments like cataract surgery. Volunteer ophthalmologists and optometrists educate participants on eye care, early detection of vision disorders, and preventive measures. Dental camps focus on oral health, offering check-ups, cleaning, and treatment for cavities and other dental issues. Participants learn proper brushing techniques, oral hygiene practices, and the importance of regular dental care to maintain long-term oral health.

These camps are designed to be inclusive and community-focused, reaching vulnerable populations and providing access to essential health services. By combining preventive care, medical treatment, nutrition support, and health education, these initiatives improve health outcomes, reduce preventable illnesses, and empower families to adopt healthier lifestyles.
